White Noise Machine - Dreamegg Portable White Noise Machine for Baby Sleeping with Night Light, Nature Sounds, White Noise and Lullaby, Child Lock, USB Rechargeable for On-The-Go Travel Nursery Gift So we have this little travel sound machine. ![]() (If your baby does become particularly attached to white noise for sleep, the aforementioned cellphone trick can help fill the gap regardless of where you are.) White noise is also really helpful for masking noises too and it's lessened the frequency that my daughter has been accidentally woken up. We've gone without it due to power outages or traveling and didn't have an issue-So, I'd say it's safe to feel comfortable about not making your baby dependent on it to sleep. At 20 months old, white noise helps ensure that she settles down for naps and bedtime and the light has helped us with our toddler not jettisoning herself out of bed if she wakes up prematurely. We don't have a Hatch but use Alexa to play white noise and have a smart bulb routine that automatically changes the lamp red during sleep times and then it gradually becomes white as wake-up approaches. Later on, white noise became a crucial sleepy time cue for her. When my daughter was days old I wound up using my cellphone to play heartbeat noises and white noise because she was so unsettled. My kids’ are almost 2 & almost 4 now, it so so useful. ![]() The kids’ adore the white noise, red light at night, & get excited waking up to twinkle twinkle little star on a green light. It fixed most of our issues in 1 night, literally. I love this thing, so much so that I’m buying a 2nd rest+ for when our 3rd arrives asap. The extra $15-30 is worth the features added. I wasn’t sold on the rest+ until I actually got it, but now I can’t imagine buying the regular hatch either. It gives 99% of our issues, has a clock, can be unplugged for ~2 ish hours in the event of a power outage or something, has an okay audio monitor I can listen or talk to the kids’ through, & is an okay to wake clock for an older kid. We’ve had it for 4-6 months now & honestly? I love it. My oldest was struggling to adjust to her moving into his room with him a bit & was getting scared of the dark. I only bought it when my youngest was around 13-15 months old, because she was waking up screaming multiple times & having a hard time sleeping. It’s a source of familiarity when our routine and surroundings are different which can be difficult for little kids and throw off their sleep. I will say it can be a pain to bring when traveling BUT I’ve found it a blessing too. So she’s learning that if it hasn’t changed it’s not time to wake up yet and she has to lie quietly in her bed or play with her toys until 7am. We also set it to change to a different light and tune (yellow and birds chirping) when it’s time for her to get up in the morning. The light is helpful as she discovered fear “it’s too dark mama!” and the noise allows us to have friends over in the evening, put her down to bed when it’s time, and still have her sleep through the laughter and conversation/noise. We had the same concern with reliance but the reality was we didn’t have an easy baby and if she heard any sound she’d be wide awake screaming! Desperation for sleep easily won out lol. ![]()
